Hey guys, I just found out that my subscribers haven't been getting notified about new posts. I''m so sorry about that. The error should be fixed now. Don't worry, I promise not to bombard you with emails.
Without further ado, check out my interview with Steezeus, my Lolo and Winkle cover illustrator.
How did you get into illustrating?
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, so it came naturally. At two years old I could draw Ninja Turtles better than any kid.
What is your specialty?
My specialty is anime/manga style art. The pic below is one of my favorite drawings.
What's the hardest part about illustrating?
The hardest part is adapting to what is best for the client. I have my own ideas about the illustration, but I have to do what's best for the client's vision.
How long does it take to complete an illustration?
It depends on the complexity of the illustration. It can take weeks. I'm creating something original and I'm a perfectionist.
What advice do you have for someone that wants to do illustrations?
Practice, practice, practice. Everyday. Six months later, go back and look at what you started with. You'll be surprised with how much better you've gotten.
What do you like about illustrating the Lolo and Winkle covers?
Lolo and Winkle were something knew for me. L. B. Anne told me what she had in mind and I came up with something for her. I like that they are simple, straight forward characters.
May we have a peak at your process for the upcoming 4th book of the Lolo and Winkle series?
Lolo and Winkle Break London was a little harder, because it's the most I've done with background content. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. This is the second drawing, before the finished product which I'll let L. B. reveal.
There you have it, guys. I wish I could tell you Steezus is available to help with your next project, but he is already booked through the end of the year. I'll update you with his contact information if that changes.
Steezeus, thank you so much for sharing with us. As you guys can see, he is a man of few words. Stick around. I'll be revealing the cover of Lolo and Winkle Break London in a few days!
Have you started reading the Lolo and Winkle series? If not, start with the first book here.
I appreciate you for stopping by.
Blessings,
L.B.
